SSS Update: Jack Sales of the International Darksky Assn will be providing a display of his latest information for working to lower the lighting levels that are continuing to reduce astronomical observing. SIERRA SUMMER STARPARTY POLICIES 1. Alpine County Policies require that the event be non-smoking on the airport and in the surrounding forested areas. 2. Attendence is limited to 75 registrants. 3. A ticket is required to park & set up on the aircraft parking apron, and use is restricted to the south portion of the paved tie-down area to be marked by a chalk line. Participants are requested to provide a fire extinguisher. sssp@charter.net
4. Camping is not permitted in the forested areas adjacent to the airport due to the extreme fire danger. 5. Camping is available at the reserved Indian Creek Rec Area for a fee of $10. per person per night payable to SSSP. tahoegiles@sbcglobal.net
6. Camping, RV Parking, and showers are available at the first-come, first-served BLM facility for a fee payable to the BLM on-site custodian. Info @ the BLM Website 7. All free tickets have been distributed. sssp@charter.net 8. A charge of $20.00 to offset event expenses, and to register for the John Dobson presentation and Sierrastars Robotic observatory visit is payable to SSSP Registration, 7201 Borealis Court, Sparks NV 89436 by August 28, 2007. 9. Additional Camping is available at the nearby Turtle Creek facility. Please visit the Alpine County CA website. 10. There are numerous lodging and eating possibilities in Markleeville, Woodfords, and the surrounding "Sierra Alps" area. A limited number of brochures are available by sending an SASE to: "Brochures" at the address in 8 above.
